PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reader for exactly decoding a bar code even when the shape of the bar code to be read is distorted, or a label is partially missing. SOLUTION: When a bar code label 1 is image picked-up by a second- dimensional image pickup device 4, an obtained second-dimensional image is stored in a frame memory 5, and the image pickup state of a bar code is detected by a label detecting part 15. In the label detecting part 15, the presence or absence and position of the bar code label 1 stored in the frame memory 5 are detected by a position detecting part 16, and the upper and lower end inclinations in a row direction of the pertinent bar code label are detected by an upper and lower end inclination detecting part 18. The inclination of a scan line is calculated by an inclination calculating part 21 so that a difference between the above mentioned the upper and lower end inclinations can be uniformly divided in the number of scan lines, and the above mentioned bar code label is scanned by a scanning part 22 according to this calculated inclination. The above mentioned bar code information is read by a reading part 20, and decoded by a decoding part 24. |
