NETWORK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for unitarily managing user networks connected to a virtual private network such as a VPN without requiring such an extra labor that an operation management server individually corresponds to extended MIB (management information base) in each vender.

SOLUTION: A network management system comprises a first edge router for providing a virtual private network function to a network and connecting at least one network constituted in each user group to the virtual private network and an operation management server connected to the first edge router to manage the virtual private network and user networks. Each user network comprises a second edge router connected to the first edge router. The first edge router comprises a collection means for collecting management information concerned with constitutional apparatuses of the user network from the second edge router, a means for storing the management information correspondingly to the virtual private network and a means for returning the management information at the time of receiving a management information request from the operation management server.
