An optical scanning microscope observing device capable of obtaining a clear image controlled in shaking due to pulsation when the living tissues or various organs in live conditions of mammals such as laboratory small animals are observed, the device comprising a light source, a light transmitting member for transmitting lights from the light source, a collimate optical system for turning the transmitted lights into parallel lights, a light scanning unit for allowing the parallel lights to scan a specimen, a condensing optical system for condensing scanning lights onto the specimen, a pupil projection optical system, an optical detector for detecting returned lights returning from the specimen through the condensing optical system, the pupil projection optical system, the light scanning unit, the collimate optical system and the light transmitting member, an actuator for displacing the collimate optical system along the optical axis direction, a control device for controlling driving thereof, and a deflecting means for deflecting lights emitted from the light transmitting member into a direction crossing its optical axis, wherein the actuator is disposed in a space along a plane including optical axes before and after the deflection by the deflecting means.
