PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a neat coating pattern by sharply cutting the terminal end of the coating pattern in a die for a hot melt adhesive. SOLUTION: A communication passage (8) connects a valve (4) for controlling the supply of the hot melt adhesive with a discharge port (9), and a suction chamber (11) is opened in part of this communication passage (8). In the suction chamber (11), a piston (16) is retractably provided. A valve element (6) constituting the valve (4) and a piston (16) are connected with a connection arm (18) so that the piston (16) advances when the valve (4) is opened, and the piston (16) retreats when the valve (4) is closed. When the piston (16) retreats, the adhesive in the communication passage (8) is sucked in the suction chamber, and when it advances, the adhesive in the communication chamber is pushed back to the communication chamber.
