PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an improvement in resolution of a region where the dynamic resolution on a screen of a liquid crystal panel is desired to be improved. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a delay time setting section 17 for setting the desired delay time, a light emission period setting section 19 for generating a synchronizing signal formed by delaying a vertical synchronizing signal by the time set in the delay time setting section 17, and a light source control means for periodically controlling the amount of light for illumination to be emitted from an LED 27 in synchronizing with a delay synchronizing signal.
