There is disclosed a technique for rapidly deciding a PMTU associated with a new data route after a handover even when the handover has bee performed by a mobile node. According to the technique, a mobile node (MN) (10) performing a handover reports, before the handover, the IP address of the correspondent node (CN) (40) with which it has been communicating before the handover, to an access router (nAR) (30) to be connected after the handover. The nAR searches/decides an optimal PMTU associated with the route to the CN. When the MN is connected under the nAR, the decided PMTU is reported to the MN. Thus, immediately after the handover, the MN can set the PMTU associated with the data route up to the CN and transmit a packet of an optimal packet size. Moreover, it is possible to report the IP address of the CN with which the MN has been communicating before the handover, to the nAR by utilizing the processing associated with an FMIP.
|
