<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scintillator with sufficiently great fluorescence output and sufficiently short fluorescence decaying time. <P>SOLUTION: The scintillator whose matrix consists of rare earth metal silicate crystal is provided. In this scintillator, the rare earth element is selected from Sc, Y, La, Gd and Lu.
