PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiving system, a tuner and a television receiving method capable of detecting directivities in optimum directions in a short time. SOLUTION: Some of directivities D1 to D16 smaller in an angular difference from directions in matching with the directions of the directivities roughly particularized in a first signal state step are selected by a second selection step and the reception state is more meticulously detected only in the vicinity of the particularized directions. Thus, optimum directivities being some of the directivities D1 to D16 can be particularized without the need for detecting AGC voltages of the full directivities D1 to D16.
