PURPOSE:To reduce the flickering of display and widen the operational margin by covering an auxiliary discharge electrode of a cover plate with at least a dielectric film and a metal thin film. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 2 and an auxiliary discharge electrode 3 are formed on a front glass plate 1, on which electrode 3 a dielectric film 13 is provided by thick print and a metal thin film 14 made of Al and the like is provided by vacuum evaporation. Next, the front surface of electrodes is covered with a transparent dielectric layer 5 to make a cover plate A and then a back electrode 7 and an auxiliary discharge electrode 8 are formed on a back glass plate 6, and after that, the front surface of electrodes are covered with a black dielectric layer 9. And a spacer 10 is provided to make a back plate B and the back plate B and the plate A are sealed with a frit glass 11 and then a dischargeable noble gas such as neon is enclosed therein. Thereby, even when the electrode 3 is placed closer to the display part than before, an auxiliary discharge light is not seen from the display screen side, so that the flickering of display is reduced and therefore, a plasma display panel having a wider operational margin than before may be obtained. |
