PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To narrow a lateral width of a winch when applying a tension measuring instrument, for example, to the winch, to prolong a life of a linear body, and to reduce an expense. SOLUTION: This tension measuring instrument with a measuring roller 12 arranged between a drum 11 arrayed with the linear body 10 to be wound multilayeredly and a fixed roller 13, and for measuring a tension T of the linear body 10 laid ranging over the drum 11, the measuring roller 12 and the fixed roller 13 is provided with a force detector for outputting a force signal W1 corresponding to force W2 received from the the linear body 10 by the measuring roller 12, an encoder for outputting a rotation angle signal of the measuring roller 12 corresponding to a resultant force angle C formed by linear body portions 10a, 10b in both sides extended from the measuring roller 12 respectively toward the drum 11 and the fixed roller 13, and a tension computing part for computing the tension T of the linear body 10, on the basis of the rotation angle signal and the signal W1.
