A method of manufacturing a wrap-around back boiler

An enclosure sheet 30 is bent to form the sides of main tanks along with side tank sheets 31 and a rear tank sheet 32. Auxiliary side tanks 20 and 21 are formed as sub-assemblies with an opening whilst an auxiliary bridging tank 22 includes two openings for communication with the main tanks. Each of the auxiliary tanks is formed with protruding tabs 34 for engagement with slots 35 & 36 in the enclosure sheet. Holes 37 & 38 are also provided in the enclosure sheet for communication between the respective tanks. The hole 38 is larger than hole 37 to allow the bridging tank 22 to be slid through and positioned via the end tabs 34. Each part is tack welded in position during boiler assembly and may be welded automatically thereafter.
