<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine capable of performing both an increase in fuel economy by a pump loss reduction effect and an increase in output by inertia supercharging and pulsation effect in a balanced manner even if the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine change. <P>SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine comprises independent intake pipes connected to cylinders, and the independent intake pipes can change volumes. Also, the control device switches between a fuel economy emphasizing control system changing the volumes of the independent intake pipes according to the filling efficiency of the cylinders and an output emphasizing control system changing them according to engine rotational speeds by referring to a map in which the engine rotational speeds and the filling efficiency are used as parameters. More specifically, the output emphasizing control system is selected in the area ofγ= 0 on the map, and the fuel economy emphasizing control system is selected in the area ofγ= 1. Since the switching between both control systems can be properly performed, even if the operating conditions of the internal combustion engine change, the increase in the fuel economy by the pump loss reduction effect and the increase in the output by the pulsation effect can be performed in a balanced manner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
