PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage disposer in which the treating time is not influenced by its downsizing. SOLUTION: The garbage disposer is provided with a treating vessel 2 accommodating garbage, agitating means 3a, 3b agitating the garbage in the treating vessel, an gas-exhausting means 4 exhausting steam generated during treating the garbage to the outside, and a volume-reducing means 5 installed in the treating vessel and supplying heat contacting with the agitated garbage. A catalyst device 8 is installed in the gas-exhausting means 4 and the volume-reducing means 5 is constituted of a hollow partition plate, and the steam which is deodorized by the catalyst device 8 and exhausted from the gas-exhausting means 4 is supplied to the partition plate. Thereby a heat receiving area, which receives the garbage by existence of the volume-reducing means 5, is not minimized and the garbage disposer is provided in which the treating time does not influenced.
