PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver capable of reducing the time needed for frequency scanning. SOLUTION: This receiver is provided with a front end 1 for receiving an analog RF signal, filters 4 and 5 for making an IF or baseband from the front end pass through and a demodulator 8 for outputting a transport stream, and can receive ground digital. In the receiver, the front end 1 tunes a received signal to a plurality of frequency channels to obtain the received signal, the filter 4 makes the plurality of frequency channels pass through, simultaneously determines whether the receiving power of each of the frequency channels in the plurality of frequency channels exceeds a threshold (9, and 15 to 18) and performs frequency scanning to determine whether the receiving power is ground digital that can receive only a frequency channel exceeding the threshold.
