<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a transmissive optical element which has a high resolution with a condensing spot size equal to or less than the wavelength of light and also is equipped with a high utilization factor of the light. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element comprises a conductive film which has at least an opening communicating from its first surface to its second surface and surface profile arranged on at least one surface out of the first and second surfaces at regular intervals and with which intensity of light incident on one surface thereof and transmitted through the opening is more increased than in the case of a conductive film without the surface profile, wherein the surface profile is formed so as to be the shapes enhancing reflection of an electromagnetic surface wave excited by the light incident on the one surface and propagated on the surface of the conductive film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
