<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify work in assembling a printer and to shorten waiting time taken till printing by eliminating unnecessary phase adjustment sequence in shifting to a monochrome mode and in shifting to a full color mode. <P>SOLUTION: The multicolor image forming apparatus is equipped with a plurality of rotating bodies 1 for carrying an image, a means for detecting a member to be detected which rotates synchronizing with the rotating body, a means for detecting a phase difference between the respective rotating bodies from a result obtained by detecting the member to be detected, a motor for driving the rotating body, and a motor control means 14, and color slurring is restrained by adjusting the phase difference between the respective rotating bodies. In the apparatus, the motor control means detects the member to be detected of the rotating body in starting and stopping driving the rotating body, and performs the driving starting or stopping operation of the rotating body based on prescribed timing with reference at the point of time when the member to be detected is detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
