<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum brake device easily hooking a terminal hooking tool of a cable on a toggle lever. <P>SOLUTION: This drum brake device 1 is provided with a toggle mechanism 10 for expanding and opening a space between one ends of a pair of brake shoes 3, 4. The toggle mechanism 10 is provided with the toggle lever 8 and a strut 9, and the terminal hooking tool 23a of the cable 23 is inserted from the back face side of a back panel 23 into the front face side and hooked on the toggle lever 8. To make it possible to insert the terminal hooking tool 23a of the cable 23 from the back face side of the back panel 2 to the front face side without inserting the terminal hooking tool 23a into a member 30 in a vehicle body side, a cable insertion hole 2d into which the terminal hooking tool 23a is inserted is formed in a position of the back panel 2 in which part of the perimeter is not covered with the member 30 in the vehicle body side when the back panel 2 and an anchor member 7 are fixed to the vehicle body side.
