PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-type friction stir spot joining gun that stably withstands long-term use by arranging a reducer in the main shaft, bearing a load on the main shaft bearing part with the bearing of a large load capacity on the reducer side, and thereby preventing generation of play in the main shaft. SOLUTION: The X-type friction stir spot joining gun is a device for softening, stirring, and joining objects to be joined by the frictional heat generated by rotation of a pin 4, wherein a joining tool 5 with the pin at the tip end is arranged on the one end side of an X-type arm. One of the X-type arms is constituted as an oscillation arm 3, and the other of the X-type arms as a stationary arm 2. In the main shaft 8 pivotally supporting both arms, a reducer 9 is arranged to reduce turning from a motor 19 for driving the arms, so that the load on the main shaft from the oscillation arm is born by the ball bearing or roller bearing inside the reducer.
