The method involves separating two supercharged air flows by a movable flexible wall (6). One of the air flows exhibits a temporarily changing fluctuating pressure pattern in a direction through which the air flow, and extends its pressure fluctuation in the direction. Energy is extracted from the air flow having the pattern, by deformation of the flexible wall, and then the energy is delivered to the other flow. An independent claim is also included for a device for discharging a supercharged air flow of an internal combustion engine.
