PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam engine capable of increasing output mechanical energy by improving energy conversion efficiency of a heater or a cooler. SOLUTION: A straight line part 11b of a fluid vessel 11 provided on the steam engine 10 is provided with a plurality of branch pipes 15 and a collecting pipe 16. In a part provided with the plurality of branch pipes 15 of the straight line part 11b, surface area per unit length in a flow displacement direction of working fluid 20 becomes large and large heat exchange area with the heater 12 or the cooler 13 can be secured. Consequently, in the steam engine 10, heat exchange quantity to working fluid 20 by the heater 12 and the cooler 13 can be increased and output workload (output energy) to a generator 1 from a piston 14 can be increased without changing the set temperature of the heater 12 and the set temperature of the cooler 13.
