PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone realizing a transfer telephone function at a low running cost without using two telephone lines. SOLUTION: Telephone conversation by so-called IP telephone is possible through IP network using the inventive telephone. Upon receiving a call from an external source, the telephone makes a decision whether that call is originated from an IP telephone or not. If it is originated from an IP telephone, it is forwarded to a forwarding destination IP telephone number through an IP network. In other words, the external call from an IP telephone is forwarded to other IP telephone number by utilizing IP telephone furthermore. Such forwarding can be realized in an IP network like ADSL performing high rate data transfer because one cable can be used for a plurality of conversations simultaneously. Only one telephone line is required to be contracted and conventional contract of two lines is not required for forwarding a call and thereby call forwarding can be realized at a low cost. Since a low rate IP telephone is used for originating a call to a forwarding destination IP telephone number, call charge rate can be lowered and running cost can also be held down.
