MOULDING PLASTICS ARTICLES

Plastics articles are moulded using a mould (10) with relatively thin-walled regions (16) defining the mould surfaces. Thin-walled regions (16) of sheet metal are disclosed. The moulds may be used in a power impression moulding process to mould products comprising an expanded foamed plastics core (24) sandwiched between two skins (20) of plastics material, or in processes where there is a single material or mixture across the cross-section. In one process the moulded articles are released from the moulds after moulding, but in another process the thin-walled regions (16) are retained on the finished product to serve as facings integrally bonded to the underlying plastics material.
