<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently select an optimum printer from a plurality of similar printers connected to a network based on printing data and the characteristics of the printers to efficiently realize a print environment. <P>SOLUTION: A printing system is provided with a printer primary information acquisition means which acquires the performance information of a print terminal connected to a network, for example, color printing, A3-size printing, a printing language, the presence or absence of double-face printing mechanism and the presence or absence of a staple, the primary information being information for roughly classifying printers; and a printer secondary information acquisition means which acquires printer secondary information, for example, printing speed, resolution and capacity of a memory/hard disk.
