PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-slice X-ray CT scanner capable of realizing both high resolution in the body axial direction and a wide photographing region along the body axial direction. SOLUTION: This X-ray CT scanner is equipped with a data collecting device 21 composed by lining up a plurality of data collecting elements for obtaining a digital data by collecting and processing the detection signal of a two-dimensional detector 11 by making them to correspond to the slice thickness direction and the channel direction. The two-dimensional detector 11 has a plurality of detection element lines 11a1 for respective channels. Each detection element line 11a1 is constituted in an unequal pitch structure in which a basic detection element having a minimum slice pitch is arranged at the central part of the slice thickness direction and an X-ray detection element having a slice pitch larger than the minimum slice pitch is arranged on its both sides. The X-ray CT scanner is equipped with a detection element selecting means which exchangeably selects each X-ray detection element corresponding to the slice thickness condition and connects the X-ray penetration data of the same slice layer so as to send it to the corresponding data collecting element.
