PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for efficiently applying a liquid substance to the entire surface of an object being transported. SOLUTION: The method and apparatus comprise linearly jetting a liquid substance (3) to the surface of an object (2) being transported by a transportation means (1) in the direction transversely crossing the transportation direction and spreading the liquid substance on the surface of the object being transported by jetting a gas from a gas discharge means (6) to the surface of the object being transported. The method and apparatus are characterized in that the liquid substance is jetted with one or a plurality of nozzles (51) which are made to cross slantingly the transportation means synchronously with the transportation of the object from the upstream side to the downstream side in the transportation direction by a directly moving apparatus (5b) installed in the direction at a prescribed angle to the transportation direction.
