PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the molecular weight or the melt viscosity of a polyester resin and improve draw-down resistance, heat resistance and gas-barrier properties thereof by incorporating and melt-kneading a tetracarboxylic dianhydride therewith. SOLUTION: The tetracarboxylic dianhydride has a specific tricyclic structure.
