<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monolithic X-rays detector having a detection area of a staggered arrangement. <P>SOLUTION: A monolithic solid-state detector(12), using a plurality of line of staggered pixels(15), improves the spatial resolution, without requiring a reduction in the pixel size. Tiling becomes possible in one dimension, without generating a zone of low efficiency between monoliths due to the parallelogram shape of CZT monolith. Scanning apparatuses(10, 10') use a linear arrangement of the detectors(12), having a shape of non-rectangle and a line of staggered detection elements are used so as not to produce an dead zone in the scanning range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
