PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-side welding machine equipped with two kinds of backing devices, which has a simplified structure and an extended range of applications. SOLUTION: The invented one-side welding machine has a frame, first and second backing devices placed on the frame, a feeding unit which feeds flux to the backing devices, and a transferring device which horizontally transfer workpieces to be welded at the upper portion of the first and second backing devices. The first backing device comprises a pail-shaped flux vessel extending along a weld line, a first collecting section which collects flux overflowing from the flux vessel, and a first lifter which raises the flux vessel relatively with the frame. The second backing device comprises a copper plate extending along the weld line, a second collecting section which collects flux dropping from the copper plate out of the flux fed onto the copper plate, and a second lifter which raises the copper plate relatively with the frame. The invented one side welding machine has both one-side welding functions using backing flux in the first backing device and one-side welding using backing flux in the second backing device.
