In addition, verification is made as to whether the planned change in the rotational speed can be implemented, and the electric machine (1) is switched into a more favorable mode of operation when said change cannot be implemented. The admissibility of the real moment (Mist1) is preferably verified in such a way that maximum and minimum admissible threshold moments Mmax_z and Mmin_z are formed while Mist2 is compared step by step to a value Mist1, the thresholds Mmax_z and Mmin_z, and a reduced and delayed setpoint moment Msoll_r.
