PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a numerical controller capable of performing synchronous control astride different systems at a desired ratio, and the synchronous control with desired phase relation. SOLUTION: A work W attached to a master shaft 1 is gear-machined by a rotary tool 3a attached to a slave shaft 3 of the same system 1. The work W is gear-machined by a rotary tool 4a attached to a slave shaft 4 of a different system 2. In each the slave shaft 3, 4, a synchronous traveling amount is found by multiplying a traveling instruction of the master shaft by the set synchronous ratio to convert it into a traveling instruction of the slave shaft. The synchronous traveling amount is added to the traveling instructions of the slave shafts 3, 4 to drive the slave shafts. Therefore, the slave shafts 3, 4 are driven synchronously at the prescribed ratio to the master shaft 1. The traveling instructions of the slave shafts are corrected such that positions of the slave shafts 3, 4 have the prescribed phase relation to a position of the master shaft 1.
