A rotor seal for a hydraulic turbine has a floating ring seal between the rotor and the turbine housing. The seal is located axially against a radial lip on the inside of the housing, and is located radially on the rotor. Bearing rings are applied to the radial lip and to the rotor and the sealing ring has at least one of its bearing faces profiled and supplied with pressurised water via a flexible pipe between the seal and the turbine housing. The water feed ensures a hydraulic seal, prevents particulates damaging the seal and prevents the sealing ring from rotating.
