<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a cycle characteristic and to restrain increase of battery thickness, in a lithium secondary battery using a powder material comprising silicon and a silicon alloy as a negative electrode active material. <P>SOLUTION: This lithium secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte, and is characterized by that the negative electrode active material thereof is a powder material comprising silicon and a silicon alloy; and a ratio of charge-discharge capacity per unit area of the negative electrode to that of the positive electrode is 1.3 to 3, and preferably 1.5 to 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
