PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for normalizing a positron emitting tomography system. SOLUTION: The method and the system for normalizing a positron emitting tomography system (100) are provided. The method comprises a step for acquiring three-dimensional normalizing scan data from the positron emitting tomography system having at least one septa (100), and a step for determining a downsampling coefficient based on one part of at least one septa configuration.
