摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens which has a small number of component lenses, and which is compact, is suitable for a rear focusing system capable of being easily made small and simple in a mechanical layout, and can obtain a stable image forming performance from an infinite end to a close range, and to provide a zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is composed of 1st to 3rd lens groups G1 to G3, having negative refractive power, positive refractive power, positive refractive respectively, in this order from the object side. The 1st lens group G1 consists of a negative lens L1 and a positive lens L2, and the 2nd lens group G2 consists of a positive lens L3, a cemented lens L4 and a positive lens L7, and the 3rd lens group G3 consists of a positive lens L8. Then, the zoom lens is constituted so that the ratio of the distance L<SB>t</SB>from a lens face positioned on a most object side at the telescopic end of the zoom lens to the image forming face to the focal length f2 of the 2nd lens group G2, and the relation between the radius of curvature R<SB>13</SB>of the positive lens L2 and the radius of curvature R14 of the positive lens L2 and the ratio of the length on the optical axis from a face positioned the closest to the object side of the 1st lens group G1 to the face positioned on the closest to the image side to the length on the optical axis from a face positioned on the closest to the object side of the 2nd lens group G2 to the face positioned on the closest to the image side become values inside the prescribed ranges.
