<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment device and its method for removing unburnt gas contained in exhaust gas while suppressing the recomposition of dioxin and preventing the blockage of a duct due to chloride dust. <P>SOLUTION: A reactor 1 is connected to a tail portion of a rotary kiln 7, and an exhaust gas outlet 10 provided in the upper part of the side wall of the reactor 1 is connected to an exhaust gas inlet 20 provided in the upper part of the side wall of a cooling tower 2 via the short duct 3. A water spray nozzle 21 is provided in the cooling tower 2 for spraying water downward.
