PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freshness retaining bag which can be recycled easily and stored in an unbulky shape, makes transport efficient, holds flowering plants stably during the transport, and restrains water from flowing out even if the bag falls over and lies lengthwise, and to provide a freshness retaining container which uses the bag. SOLUTION: The freshness retaining bag 1 has valley folds 2 formed by folding a cylinder so that opposite faces of a cylindrical water-impermeable sheet are close to each other. The bag 1 also has bag closed sections 3 formed such that both ends of the cylindrical water-impermeable sheet are closed with the valley folds formed in it. By forming the valley folds 2 and the bag closed sections 3, a sheet top 4 and a sheet bottom 5 are layered with the valley folds 2 formed between them. As water is stored through a water injection opening 9 made in the sheet top 4, the valley folds 2 are unfolded to create a storage space.
