PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a good optical fiber strand highly proof against transmission loss due to the formation of precipitates in the clad layer even when left standing at low temperatures for a long time and besides keeps good workability. SOLUTION: The optical fiber strand is characterized in that it comprises one or more coating layers, at least one of the coating layers contains a polyether polyurethane in which the skeletal species is a linear polyoxyalkylene structure, and at least one of the polyol components which form the linear polyoxyalkylene structure comprises an ultraviolet-curing resin comprising a polytetramethylene glycol.
