The sensor unit for a vehicle has at least one sensor (1) installed on a windscreen, a computing and control unit (2) which evaluates signals from the sensor and produces signals for the control of the wiper motor. At least one structure-borne sensor (1.1) senses a structure-borne noise encountered on the windscreen and converts it into electrical signals which are processed by the control unit. An optical sensor (1.2) is provided to cover a region of the windscreen.
