PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove water-soluble dirt without increasing the amount of detergent. SOLUTION: This washing apparatus is provided with a liquid tank 11 storing the liquid carbon dioxide, a washing tub 13 comprised to closably store washing objects having contamination attached to their surfaces, a liquid supply pipe 14 pressure-feeding the liquid carbon dioxide from the liquid tank 11 to the washing tub 13, a detergent supply means 27 supplying the detergent to the washing tub 13, and a liquid recovery pipe 18 recovering the liquid carbon dioxide. This apparatus is further provided with a water adding device 31 constituted to add water to the liquid carbon dioxide filling the washing tub 13, and a water separating device 46 separating and recovering the water from the liquid carbon dioxide discharged form the washing tub 13. This washing method adds a predetermined amount of water to either one or the both of the liquid carbon dioxides to be supplied to the washing tub 13 in a washing process and a rinsing process.
