A pharmaceutical composition comprises an amino acid sequence at least 50% identical to a sequence selected from SEQ ID NO: 2, 4 and 6 and having calcium binding activity and/or the capacity to bond to the ARP2/3 complex. The polypeptides and nucleic acid encoding them can be used in the preparation of medicament fro treatment of disorders of the nervous system a cancer. Also described are transgenic non-human animals and the use of the DNA sequences for the production of antigens and antibodies and in diagnosis.
