<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of efficiently preparing 3,4,5-tri-O-caffeoylquinic acid by a simple method. <P>SOLUTION: A method for preparing 3,4,5-tri-O-caffeoylquinic acid comprises extracting leaves of Ipomoea batatas with a water-containing alcohol, water or hot water, concentrating the extracted solution, subsequently dissolving the concentrated substance in water, distributing the aqueous solution with a polar organic solvent to obtain an aqueous layer fraction, allowing the fraction to adsorb on a synthetic adsorbent, then treating the resulting adsorbent with 55-65% alcohol to remove impurities, eluting a target component with 75-90% alcohol, and further fractionating the obtained eluted fraction by column chromatography to collect 3,4,5-tri-O-caffeoylquinic acid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
