PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus, capable of detecting not only a white defective pixel but also a black defective pixel, using a simple configuration and accurately correcting the deterioration of image quality caused by these defective pixels. SOLUTION: A digital camera 1 includes a bent lens barrel 20 for forming the image of an object on an imaging device 25 for photoelectrically transducing the object image into an electrical signal, a digital signal processing section 4 for applying predetermined image processing on the electrical signal read from the imaging device 25, and a defective pixel information recording section 44 for recording defective pixel information of the imaging device 25, and comprises a defective pixel correction section 42 for performing predetermined defective pixel correction. A lens barrier 2, comprising light diffusion and light transmission properties, is provided in the aperture part of the bent lens barrel 20, and external light can be converted into predetermined diffusion light (detection light) and guided to the imaging device 25, so that black defective pixels can be detected, while closing the lens barrier 2.
