The method involves carrying out post processing of graphic data of 2-D layer pictures for regulation of brightness values and/or initial values. Picture areas are marked or segmented on the pictures, where the valuation of both values exhibits a type of deposits. A three dimensional area is automatically formed from the picture areas, and has volume that is provided as value for the volume of the deposits. An independent claim is also included for a device for quantitative regulation of deposits in blood vessels.
