PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave element with which an anti-resonant frequency and a resonant frequency can be easily made close to each other, and a high frequency filter capable of presenting sharp out-of-band frequency attenuation characteristics by using said surface acoustic wave element. SOLUTION: An insulated material layer composed of silicon oxide is formed between interdigital electrode parts 12, 13 and a piezoelectric substrate 11, so that an anti-resonant frequency gets closer to a resonant frequency.
