摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a goniometer using isotropic giant magnetoresistive elements having a simple manufacturing process, miniaturizable, and less consuming electric power. SOLUTION: This goniometer comprises a planar coil and at least one set of giant magnetoresistive element pair made up of two isotropic giant magnetoresistive elements provided on a plane parallel to the planar coil. The planar coil is in the shape of a quadrilateral having parallel opposite side pairs. Since the longitudinal direction of each of the magnetoresistive elements of the element pair is orthogonal to only one side of each opposite side pair of the planar coil, end parts on one side of the magnetoresistive element of the element pair are connected to each other. While a voltage for measurement is placed between end parts on the other side, a midpoint voltage is picked up from the end parts of the magnetoresistive elements connected to each other, thereby finding a direction.
