<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp light source device having a high cooling effect, continuously usable over a long time, and usable, for instance, for a rear projection television or the like. <P>SOLUTION: This lamp light source device is provided with: a discharge lamp; a reflecting mirror surrounding the circumference of the discharge lamp for reflecting light in a certain direction; a transparent protective plate installed so as to form a space surrounded by the reflecting mirror into a sealed space and to close a light emission opening; a plurality of radiation fins formed perpendicularly to an optical axis in the sealed space; and air guide plates surrounding the outside of the reflecting mirror and the radiation fins for guiding cooling air at a right angle with respect to the optical axis of the reflecting mirror; and is characterized by passing the cooling air between the outside of the reflecting mirror and the air guide plates to cool the radiation fins heated by heat radiated from the discharge lamp, whereby the lamp light device has a high cooling effect, can thereby continuously carry out a projection operation over a long time, and can be used for a television set for rear projection or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
