PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lathe capable of entirely machining a long or short work W, including both ends thereof, into a complex shape. SOLUTION: A main spindle 30 and a back spindle 50 grip works W, respectively. A tool 41 is attached to a tool spindle 40. By adjusting the positions of the spindles 30 and 50 and the position of the tool spindle 40, the work W gripped by the spindles 30 and 50 is machined by the tool 41. Since tool spindle 40 can change the direction of the tool 41, the work W, including both ends thereof, can be entirely machined into a complex shape. A guide bush 90 supports the work W to prevent the work W from being bent. Therefore, this lathe can entirely machine the long or short work W into a complex shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
