FIELD: switching devices handling high making currents and low holding currents. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed operating mechanism has electromagnet coil shorted out by backward diode, transistor, and control unit; newly introduced in operating mechanism is transformer whose primary winding is connected in series with transistor; the latter is controlled by control unit; dc current of operating mechanism electromagnet coil is produced by secondary winding of mentioned transformer; transistor failure causes transformer saturation and disconnection of device while off-operation failure in this case is impossible. ^ EFFECT: enhanced reliability and economic efficiency of operating mechanism, reduced off-time of switching device. ^ 7 cl, 7 dwg |
