<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can improve bottom sediment in a closed freshwater area to a weak alkaline and aerobic atmosphere. <P>SOLUTION: The method for improving the bottom sediment in a closed freshwater area comprises a process for collecting water to be treated from the closed freshwater area, a process for mixing an oxygen- or ozone-containing gas, and particles of a magnesium compound selected from a group consisting of magnesium oxide, magnesium hydroxide, and calcined dolomite, with the collected water to be treated to prepare a suspension, and a process for returning the suspension to the closed freshwater area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
