PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high thermal efficiency by suppressing occurrence of knocking without compensation of retarding angle of ignition timing. SOLUTION: Ellipse gears 12, 13 mutually meshing with 90°phase shift are attached on a shaft end of a crank shaft 1 and a shaft end of a driven side output shaft 11 in parallel with the crank shaft 1. The ellipse gear 12 is set in such a manner that to a major axis L1 thereof is aligned roughly on extension of a connecting rod 2 when a piston 3 is on a top dead center. Since speed of the piston 3 is increased before and after the top dead center by meshing of the ellipse gears 12, 13, occurrence of knocking can be effectively avoided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
